The Ministry of Health was alarmed as the sandstorm, which started in Anbar province in the west of Iraq, moved to the central parts of the country. The sandstorm that hit Anbar province began to advance towards the capital of the country, Baghdad. The Iraqi Meteorology Directorate stated that the sandstorm, which occurred with the effect of strong winds, affected the western, northern and central parts of the country, and announced that the storm in question will be effective in the south of the country from tomorrow.
After the sandstorm spread from Anbar province to other parts of the country, the Ministry of Health announced that all health institutions were alerted to the possible danger of drowning.
In the statement made by the Iraqi Ministry of Health, it was stated that, upon the instruction of Minister Salih al-Hesnavi, all health centers of the ministry were mobilized against cases of suffocation and shortness of breath that may occur due to sandstorms.
