More and more people are being sentenced to forensic psychiatric care, at the same time that the treatment times are getting longer, these are the explanations for the high occupancy within forensic psychiatric care. This has led to a shortage of places throughout the country, Karsudden’s hospital writes in an activity report.

No nursing places left
At Karsudden outside Katrineholm, there are no regular places available. However, there are so-called technical places.
– They are not intended as long-term care facilities.
At Karsudden, people who have been sentenced to forensic psychiatric care from Sörmland, Stockholm, Örebro and Gotland are cared for.
In several places in the country there are planned or ongoing expansions in the number of care places, but this is not expected to affect the situation within the next few years.
