In the rather worn-out zombie genre, surprises have become rather rare. For fans of the bloodthirsty undead in films and series, there are currently titles worth seeing on the streaming services. In addition to the new Zack Snyder blockbuster Army of the Dead on Netflix, you can also get one weird insider tip discover.

A beauty clinic is turned into a bloodbath by a zombie epidemic in Belgian horror-fun Yummy, which airs tonight at 02:00 on MDR. For his directorial debut, Lars Damoiseaux relies on one entertaining mix of bloody violence and very black humor gags.

In the plot of the horror film, Michael and his wife Alison go to an Eastern European beauty clinic for a breast reduction. Also there is Alison’s mother, who can’t get enough of cosmetic procedures of all kinds. When Michael arrived in the basement of the clinic a bound woman discoveredhorror suddenly breaks out.

The director will certainly not win a prize for the most original screenplay with his film. But it doesn’t matter at all, because Yummy pushes exactly the right buttons for genre fans and condenses it bloody zombie chaos for some entertaining splatter fun.

The rather nasty hustle and bustle is loosened up by gags reminiscent of politically incorrect Troma works from the 80s, such as The Toxic Avenger. In addition to a lot of bare skin, Yummy is in one of the craziest scenes a patient’s enlarged penis on fire before most of it falls off as well.

But Yummy is not just a simple horror comedy full of weird birds. Rather, the horror discharges itself in some ultra-hard splatter interludes before the film ends with one more cynical punch in the pit of the stomach attends.
