The biggest Star Wars series of the year is without question Ahsoka. Not only did the project emerge as a spin-off from the mega-success The Mandalorian. Ahsoka follows up on a whole other Star Wars story, the five years ago was last seen on home screens: Star Wars Rebels.
In a way, we are dealing with a double sequel. Rosario Dawson, starring in The Mandalorian season 2 as a lightsaber-wielding Ahsoka Tano was introduced, gets its own series – and brings with it many of the well-known characters from Star Wars Rebels, including villain Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Star Wars Rebels is an animated series that aired on Disney XD from 2014 to 2018. The series was the first Star Wars project to be released after Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm. Now we finally get to know how the story continues after the original ending.
Lead actress Rosario Dawson recently reiterated the Rebels connection to Total Film (via Screen Rant):
I’m pretty sure that [Star Wars Rebels-Schöpfer] dave [Filoni] has said that it is basically the fifth season of Rebels acts.
The return of four key Rebels characters has already been confirmed for the Ahsoka series. In particular, it concerns:
Mikkelsen previously voiced Thrawn in Star Wars Rebels. Sabine, Hera and Ezra have been recast. In addition, the series Ahsoka David Tennant as the voice of the droid Huyang back, who made several appearances in The Clone Wars. Genevieve O’Reilly reprises her role as Mon Mothma on and embodied by Diana Lee Inosanto Morgan Elsbeth we know from The Mandalorian.
When does Ahsoka season 1 start on Disney+?
Ahsoka starts on August 23, 2023 at Disney+. The first season consists of eight episodes in total. These are published on a weekly basis. A new episode appears every Wednesday.
