The Star Wars universe is growing on Disney+: While Obi-Wan Kenobi is in the starting blocks and is bringing back the villain Darth Vader in addition to the eponymous Jedi master, this is already being announced next big Star Wars project to: Andor. The series was presented with a trailer at the Star Wars Celebration.
The spin-off, based on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, tells the backstory of Diego Lunas Rebel Spy Cassian Andor. It was created by Tony Gilroy, who was already involved in the creation of the corresponding movie. Alongside Luna, Genevieve O’Reilly also returns as Mon Mothma.

Season 1 takes place five years before the events of Rogue One and includes a total of twelve episodes. This makes Andor the longest live Star Wars series on Disney+ to date. The Mandalorian had eight episodes per season, The Book of Boba Fett had seven, and Obi-Wan Kenobi had six.

Andor starts on August 31, 2022 on Disney+. Season 2 has already been confirmed and will also consist of twelve episodes. Gilroy confirmed at Star Wars Celebration that the Andor finale will flow straight into Rogue One. Apparently, the plot of the prequel is already planned and worked out down to the smallest detail.
