In the UK, an extreme heat wave has hit society hard. On Friday, the national weather service The Met Office declared a national emergency. During the day, several train departures have been stopped due to the high temperatures.
Healthcare has also been affected by the heat and adjusted its capacity as more people are assumed to seek help for heat-related symptoms. Some hospitals have had to close down as they are not expected to be able to keep indoor temperatures down.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, temperatures of over 40 degrees are expected in the city of Peterborough, which is 120 km north of London.
