Extreme exploit lets players achieve anything right now and Bungie is doing nothing for now

An extremely game-changing glitch has appeared in Destiny 2 that quickly caught the attention of players. The exploit makes it possible to give legendary weapons exotic perks that significantly increase damage against players, bosses and champions. This is currently turning all gameplay on its head and could perhaps even mean a rollback.

This extremeExploit just breaks all the rules: With each new session, Bungie introduces a fresh range of craftable weapons to the game, allowing players to customize their playstyle to suit their preferences. However, with new equipment, the risk of discovering new exploits and errors also increases.

Now a groundbreaking exploit has emerged in Season 22, which was first shared on the Billibili video platform and then by CheeseForever via YouTube. He’s messing up everything in Destiny 2 right now.

  • Destiny 2’s latest weapon exploit is a game-changer, allowing players to add exotic weapon perks to legendary weapons.
  • It greatly increases damage against enemies, including bosses and champions, and is just game-breaking. Weapons use it to fire continuously.
  • For example, the Legendary Bow “Under Your Skin” can receive the exotic perk “Trinary Vision” and deal over 500 damage with headshots and over 450 damage with body shots.
  • The players in PvP, on the other hand, are just as powerless and a one-hit kill. Just like the bosses in PvE, where players are currently melting all opponents like ice in a volcano with their over-weapons in raids and millions of damage.

Bug grants exo benefits via crafting legendary weapons

This is how the crafting exploit works: The extreme game error currently only works with craftable exotic weapons, such as the exo-MP “Osteo Striga”, the fusion rifle “Dead Messenger” or the exo-scout rifle “Tale of a Dead Man”.

  • For example, you can select the exotic submachine gun “Osteo Striga” for crafting and before the game loads this weapon into the enclave, you quickly click on another weapon. The game then incorrectly grants the Exo perk to this legendary, craftable weapon.
  • Different legendary weapon frames can also be used inside each other, which allows for completely crazy results.
  • This made it possible for players to use the Aggressive Frame of the “Ragnhild-D” shotgun for the “Ammit AR2” automatic rifle, which actually has a precision frame. Or that the rapid-fire frame of the “Until the Return” shotgun can be used for the Linear Fusion Rifle “Fire and Forget,” which actually has an Aggressive frame.

This video shows how blatantly this can be exploited in the game. Here you can see the Legendary Trace Rifle “Hollow Rejection” with the Exo-Perk “Trinary Vision” from the Exo-Grenade Launcher “Dead Messenger”.

The result is a continuous fire adventure that is currently breaking the game:

More and more videos show legendary weapons that use their exotic perks to defeat bosses and players in a very short time. This has impacted not only PvE play but also Destiny 2’s PvP experience.

The streamer FalloutPlays shows the extreme effects on PvP in a video via Twitter/X and suspects that Bungie can almost only fix this by deactivating the Enclave, the Guardians’ weapon crafting center, or a complete rollback.

“[…] The longer this goes on without a rollback, the worse it gets. You can disable crafted weapons, but how are you going to undo the damage without rollback?

What does Bungie say about this? Bungie has already commented on the problem via Twitter/X and reacted quickly because the effects of this exploit are extreme and affect the fairness of the entire game.

However, there are no plans to deactivate the ongoing PvP game, the Trials, for this purpose. Will only reset the weapons built by the exploit.

We are aware of an issue that allows certain weapon perks to transfer to other legendary weapons and are investigating a solution that will result in these weapons being reset in the future.

We currently have no plans to disable Trials of Osiris due to this issue.

Bungie explained the glitch via Twitter/X

However, Bungie will keep an eye on whether things get “too wild” in the game. In this regard, the Destiny2Team added to the first announcement:

We’re looking at all possible solutions and paying attention to whether things are getting TOO wild and we need to take drastic measures to ensure the health of the game. In the meantime, let’s all have some fun! Igneous Hammer will return to the Trials as soon as possible.

Do you get a ban for exploiting it? As Bungie also announced, players who “discover” the bug will not receive an in-game restriction or ban. Along with the explicit note that the use of external scripts and network manipulation tools remains punishable.

However, you should be aware that this does not make it clear what happens to players who actively exploit the exploit. It is not clearly explained whether and what measures might still be taken against such players.

Here you should keep in mind: The use of exploits in video games is in most cases against the terms of use or the game rules of the respective game and is therefore not permitted.

Nevertheless, this and Bungie’s statements are currently only stopping a few players from drastic use, because after all, this is an almost certain guarantee that they will easily get flawless in the trials this weekend and earn an adept weapon.

The player AnthonyNixon says: “I won’t even try to get in until it’s fixed. I already play against enough cheaters every weekend. There’s no need to also play against exploits that feel like cheats.”

In any case, MeinMMO will keep you up to date on what measures Bungie may take and update this article accordingly.

What about the exploit and Bungie’s reaction? Are you already taking advantage of it yourself or is it a point of honor for you to forego it? And what do you think? Will this perhaps become a rollback or not? Feel free to tell us how you see it in the comments.

Most recently, Bungie canceled one of the oldest currencies in Destiny 2 because players regularly enriched themselves illegally through glitches:
