It is extremely dry in the forest and land right now and there is a fire ban in large parts of the country. But the rain is coming.
– The rain builds from the south and moves up over Götaland and Svealand on Sunday, says TV4 Nyhetern’s meteorologist Peter Kondrup.
A long-awaited rain area is building up from the south and is expected to move in over Skåne and Öland already on Saturday. On Sunday, the rain will continue and in Östergötland and Svealand 10-20 millimeters, and up to 25 millimeters of rain is expected in some places.
– The rain comes up over the country and then turns back again. It can probably remain in Götaland and parts of eastern Svealand also on Monday, but then it looks like the weather will be drier again but not quite as hot as we’ve had now, says Peter Kondrup.
Helps in the short term
An area of rain is also expected to reach parts of the mountain world during the weekend, apart from heavy showers or rain areas in Svealand and Götaland which are expected to receive between 10-25 millimeters.
– It will come in 3-4 days, so we are talking about quite a lot of rain. In the short term, it will help against the drought and the fires, but in the long term, there are no huge amounts to speak of, so if there is no precipitation, it can quickly become as dry again.
Friday and Saturday warm
But before the rain comes the sunshine. Temperatures over 20 degrees are expected throughout the country, and in some places it can be over 30 degrees.
– It will be even a little warmer on Saturday, the temperature can exceed 30 degrees in several places in northern Götaland and Svealand, says meteorologist Peter Kondrup.
