The new year began with a cold. In the north, the temperature crept down to minus 30 degrees and during the night to Tuesday, Nikkaluokta reached a whopping 40.5 degrees – a new season record.
And it will still be cold.
Trains canceled – no replacement buses can be used
A high pressure from the east is moving in over Sweden and is expected to bring cold throughout the country. In the north, temperatures below minus 30 degrees are expected. In northern Norrland, the cold has caused it. Night trains and daily departures between Kiruna and Luleå have been canceled – and temperatures of minus 35 degrees mean that replacement buses could not be dispatched.
But the southern parts of the country are also affected by the weather and temperatures below zero can be expected.
A new area of rain and snowfall is moving in from the west. The area will mainly affect the southern parts of Götaland during Wednesday, where between 10 and 15 centimeters of snow may fall.
– There are several warnings issued both for wind in combination with snowfall and also snowfall, says TV4’s meteorologist Lovisa Svanberg.
The week is getting colder and colder
In the north there are weaker winds but all the colder. However, strong winds are expected in the Jämtlandsfjällen on Tuesday.
– It is really cold and the cooling effect is great. These are temperatures that during the day can reach below minus 30 degrees in the north.
The weather will continue to be high pressure during the week – and the cold temperatures will continue to climb down the country.
– It is expected to get colder and colder the further into the week we get, says Lovisa Svanberg.
