The government is today deciding on an extra humanitarian support package for Gaza. It is about SEK 150 million, which will go through various UN organizations.

– It’s about the very most basic things for people to get through the day – food, water, medicines and emergency housing, says Minister for Aid Johan Forssell (M).

– There are serious humanitarian problems for the people who remain in Gaza, and they will persist for a long time.

Since before, the government has paused long-term development aid, but humanitarian aid continues.

Forssell repeats the government’s position that Israel has an obvious right to defend itself against terror and attacks, but that the response must be proportionate and in accordance with international law. At the same time, he unreservedly condemns the attack by the terrorist organization Hamas.
