Extra holiday in Lillhärdal – old tradition is kept alive

At 11:00 this morning, the church bells rang together for the service.

– It’s so nice to have an extra day off, just what I needed, said teacher Therese Jonsson before she took her seat in one of the church pews.

The school is therefore closed today, as is the shop down in the village. It’s like Sunday but it’s Monday…

The whole weekend, which is celebrated at the beginning of October, is called the Farmers’ Weekend and it has a bit of status as a big weekend.

It must have all started a long time ago when the servants would get a day off to be able to change jobs before the winter season. On that road it is.
