An extensive power outage affects central Stockholm.
Over 37,000 customers are without power – and the electricity supplier Ellevio does not know why.
– No one is more anxious for this to be resolved than we are, says Ellevio’s press manager Jesper Liveröd.
Shortly after 08.30 a major power outage occurred in central Stockholm. According to Ellevio, it is Kungsholmen and Essingeöarna that have been affected.
– It is quite extensive. Roughly 37,000 customers are affected, says Jesper Liveröd, press manager at Ellevio.
P4 Stockholm states that the power outage also affects traffic lights and according to Jesper Leveröd, several socially important functions can be affected.
– It is always untimely when something like this happens, not least for us who are responsible. Society is very dependent on electricity, so we work as intensively as possible, he says.
“Difficult to give a forecast”
The cause of the outage is currently being investigated, but at this stage it has not been possible to determine what caused it. And how long the power outage will last is unclear.

Until the error is resolved, Ellevio is working on trying to route electricity through detours to those without power.
– We are in the process of reviewing whether we can make switchovers in the meantime from other lines.
