About 900 firefighters are battling extensive forest fires in southeastern France. Water-bombing aircraft have also been deployed, and evacuation of residents is ongoing.
A total of 18 people from the rescue service are reported to have been injured in fires in recent days.
Adverse weather conditions such as drought, heat and strong winds make it difficult to gain control of the flames, writes AP. The local authorities today issued a ban until Monday from entering certain forests.
