Export Italian fashion flies to the USA

(Finance) – Thanks to a growth that in the first 10 months of 2022 recorded a +40.3% compared to 2021 (+49.1% on the pre-Covid), the US market plays an increasingly important role for the Italian textile, fashion and accessory industry, ranking second in the export ranking of countries, with a value of approx 7.3 billion euros. In this context, the project for the strengthening of exports to the United States created by Confindustria, which sees the involvement of Confindustria Moda and Agenzia Ice, takes off.

The United States represents the main non-European market for Made in Italy: with a market share of almost 5%, Italy ranks fourth in 2022 among the main supplier countries of the United States, according to United States data States Department of Commerce, and a positioning that sees our country in 2022 as the leading US supplier of eyewear, leather goods, leather, fur and footwear. By virtue of this strategic importance of the US market and the appreciation that the Made in Italy collections have registered with the buyers present at the recently concluded fairs, the roadshow “INSPR Italia – Innovations In Style”, which will start from Los Angeles and then move to Dallas and Miami, will create important new opportunities for 30 Italian companies and will show collections up close to new B2B buyers who know how to be innovative starting from the great tradition of Made in Italy know-how. The first stage of the initiative, scheduled in Los Angeles from 13 to 15 March, will see 30 Italian brands of contemporary women’s fashion, accessories and footwear present their collections.

“The internationalization of Italian companies has always been one of Confindustria’s priority objectives – he declared Barbara Beltrame Giacomello, vice president for internationalization Confindustria – and the United States is the first destination market for our exports outside Europe. This road show, which brings consumers increasingly attentive to quality, is an important opportunity for our companies; Our thanks go to Ice New York for the collaboration in its organization”. “

This project is a unique opportunity to gain insight into the US regional market, laying the groundwork for new business contacts,” he said Hercules Botto Poala, president of Confindustria Moda. “Our export data demonstrates the US’s interest in Made in Italy fashion. It is important that 4 associations of Confindustria Moda – SMI, Assocalzaturifici, Assopellettieri and AIP – have participated with their companies in this project, helping the most small companies to approach international markets”.
