Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio participated in the activities of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) candidate in Wakayama, where she went for the local council by-election campaign. Kishida met with the LDP candidate at around 11:30 local time, near the Saikazaki Fishing Port in the region, to discuss the campaign process.
EXPLOSION HEARED
Before the Japanese Prime Minister gave his speech, an explosion sound was heard at the point where he was. It was reported that Kishida was evacuated from the scene without injury. After the incident, the police took one person into custody.
Local media speculated that the sound of the explosion could be some sort of smoke-like smoke bomb thrown at Kishida’s location.
FORMER PRIME MINISTER ABE HAS BEEN ASSASSINED
Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was shot dead in the city of Nara, where he gave his election speech last year. The world-shaking assassination was carried out by Tetsuya Yamagami, a former Japan Self-Defense Force (SDF) personnel. Yamagami said he attacked Abe because of his affiliation with a religious group that his mother blamed for his financial collapse.
