Just before midnight, a powerful explosion occurred in Valsta, north of Stockholm.
Something had detonated at a gate to an apartment building.
– It was like an earthquake, says a man who lives nearby.
At 23.45 on Thursday evening, the police received several calls about a loud bang in a residential area in Valsta.
– When we arrived at the scene, we could ascertain that there had been a detonation to one of the gate entrances. The entrance door and parts of the facade were damaged, says police spokesperson Per Fahlström.
No one should have been physically harmed.
Looking at connections
The police and the National bomb protection have been on site with a large effort during the night. A large cordon was set up around the gate, but by 06:00 it had been lifted.
Now the police will investigate whether the explosion can be connected to previous violent crimes.
– We look at that very carefully. Partly the subject image, but also who lives in the house. At the same time, comparisons are made with other serious crimes, both in the immediate area and in other places, says Per Fahlström.

TV4 Nyheterna has spoken to several witnesses on the spot.
– I was sitting on the sofa and flew up, it was the worst bang I’ve ever been a part of. It was like an earthquake, says a man who lives nearby.
A woman and her family were in another part of the municipality and describe the explosion as “a container that fell from a great height”.
– All the neighbors gathered on the farm and wondered what had happened.
The police have carried out a technical investigation, searched with a dog and knocked on doors. No one has yet been arrested.
