The explosion in the port of Saint-Laurent-du-Var did not make a victim. But it could be criminal facts.
An explosion, smoke then flames. The images are impressive. Wednesday, February 5, an explosion sounded in the port of Saint-Laurent-du-Var, at the quay of the Perugia, reports BFM Nice Côte d’Azur. An important firefighter system was quickly deployed on the spot, adds for its part Nice morningwhich specifies that the explosion, which occurred around 8 p.m., would have been heard until Nice-Ouest and Villeneuve-Loubet.
The flames would be part of a first boat, which has since flowed, before spreading to two other “about 10 meters”, moored nearby. No less than 42 firefighters, eight emergency devices and two pump boats were mobilized to cope with the fire. First objective of fire soldiers: to prevent the fire from spreading to the rest of the port.

For the time being, we still know little about the origins of the fire. An investigation should be carried out to shed light on the events on Wednesday evening. But according to Bernard Leporati, member of the harbor master’s office in the port of Saint-Laurent-du-Var questioned by BFM Nice Côte d’Azur, the explosion could be of criminal origin. He claims that a man would have been seen out of the boat which exploded shortly before the first flames appeared on video surveillance images.
