An explosion has occurred in the Rosengård district of Malmö during the night.
The crime is one of several that have shaken Malmö during the month of December.
– A minor boy was arrested shortly after the explosion in a taxi, says TV4 Nyheternas reporter Mikael Nilsson on the spot.
Alarms were received at 03.30 about a loud bang and when the police arrived at the scene, they could ascertain that something had exploded in a gate at the address.
A large area was cordoned off, but residents did not have to evacuate.
– A bag has been examined by the national bomb protection and they have had a robot and bomb technician on site, says Mikael Nilsson.
Boy caught
No one is said to have been injured in the explosion, but the explosion caused material damage to the property.
Shortly after the alarm, a 14-year-old boy was arrested in a taxi.
– This person, who is a minor, has been taken to the police station for further questioning, says Mikael Nilsson.
The boy is suspected of gross destruction of public danger and violation of the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods.
Spiral of violence in Malmö
Mikael Nilsson states that there were many explosions in Malmö during December, in what can be compared to a spiral of violence.
– Many of those deprived of their liberty are teenage boys between 15 and 18 years old. They have been linked to many different conflicts going on in Malmö right now, says Mikael Nilsson.
Whether the night’s event can be connected to other acts is still unclear.
