Something has exploded in central Västerås.
During Sunday evening, the police cordoned off an apartment building on Vasagatan.
– We have received several calls about an explosion near a gate, says Magnus Jansson Klarin, the police’s press officer.

At 19.23 several police patrols were alerted to an address in central Västerås.

– We have found a gate that indicates damage from some kind of explosion, says Magnus Jansson Klarin.

The police set up large cordons around the scene and spoke to witnesses to form an idea of ​​the course of events.

– There are many who have heard the bang and there are those who have also seen smoke.

“Working full time”

At the moment, there are no suspects or detainees.

– But we are working hard to find possible perpetrators, says Magnus Jansson Klarin.

There are also no reports of personal injuries.

The police made a technical investigation at the scene, which will be documented by drones. Shortly after 21 the cordons had been lifted.

Two explosions in a short time

The police are looking into whether there is a connection to the night’s explosion in the district of Bäckby in Västerås, where three people have been arrested.

– It is clear that we are looking at possible connections, it was very close when it hit last time. It is close at hand that there may be a connection, says Magnus Jansson Klarin.

The police also then used drones and dog patrol to investigate the incident and residents at an address in Bäckby had to be housed in a property, but no one is said to have been injured.
