According to Borås newspaper the explosion took place next to an apartment building. The car’s bonnet is blown off, but the explosion is said not to have caused any damage to the building.
No injuries have been reported and no one has been arrested.
– There is some kind of explosion in a car. It is unclear what has happened so far, says Wiktor Åstrand, commander of police region West, to Borås newspaper.
According to BT sources, the explosion is believed to be linked to gang crime, something the police do not want to comment on. It is still unclear if someone threw something or if an explosive device had been placed under the car.
The police have started a preliminary investigation regarding public destruction and the car has been impounded for a technical examination.
