A tanker exploded on Saturday evening 300 kilometers east of the coast of Hong Kong. The incident left at least one dead according to a still provisional report and a rescue team was dispatched to the scene.
We do not yet know the causes of the accident, the results of which are still provisional. Among the members of the crew, mainly composed of Indonesian and Burmese men, several injured suffered from first degree burns.
Two helicopters and a plane were sent to the scene of the tragedy, located off the coast of hong kong. The rescue operation was complicated by strong winds and waves, but injured personnel were eventually evacuated to hospitals in the city.
The authorities of the former British colony were alerted on Saturday evening by the explosion aboard this tanker registered in Panama which was carrying 13 workers. So far, no oil spills have been observed off Hong Kong.
