The Revue des Vins de France gave a very good rating to several bottles sold at Carrefour for less than 8 euros. One of them doesn’t even cost 5 euros.
While the wine fairs follow one another between September and October, The French Wine Review (RvF), a reference in the field, shares its opinion on all kinds of beverages. She notably judged the wines sold at Carrefour, some of which are also listed on the brand’s website under the name “Nugget French wine review“. These wines receive a score from the RvF out of twenty, in reality calculated from a first scale out of 100. And among the “Pépites Revue du vin de France” from Carrefour, the scores range from 13 to 17.5 /20, the maximum for a “Château La Tour Blanche 2018, AOP Sauternes, sweet white wine” at 29.95 euros for 50cl Not quite for everyone…
However, much less expensive 75 cl bottles also garner good marks and fall into the high category of good wines, that is to say those which “come from well-controlled vinification combined with a lovely terroir, a fine grape variety, most often in a quality vintage”, according to RvF. “Wines of pleasure” and bordering on great wines since they obtain a score of 15/20. An excellent rating for wines sold in supermarkets during a wine fair.
This good compromise is possible in particular with four bottles. There is something for everyone: red, white and rosé. In rosé, at 6.95 euros for 75 cl, the “Palm by L’escarelle, 2023, IGP Méditerranée” is one of the good PACA wines with “a clear nose of pomegranate, redcurrant, small tangy berry. Bright and juicy mouth , pleasant finish with a lemon, blood orange profile. For the RvF, this 13% wine is ideal on a summer table, made with tapas or grilled white meat.
On the white side, the RvF validates the “Château Imperial Tokaj, 2018, Tokaj”, a sweet Hungarian wine at 11.5%. The bottle is only 6.95 euros but it is only for 50 cl. A wine that experts pair very well with dessert: “scents of quince, apple, and candied orange. Perfect with a tropézienne tart.”
In red, a 13% Beaujolais is perfect for pairing with duck recipes in particular. This is the “Domaine des Montillets, Vieilles Vignes, 2023, AOP Morgon”, described as “fine and gourmand, both juicy and deep, adorned with aromas of ripe cherries”, at a price of 7.95 euros.
The best deal remains perhaps the “Château Les Palais Premium, 2023, AOP Corbières”, since it is offered at only 4.95 euros per bottle. Wine from Languedoc-Roussillon, it is 13.5% and is presented as follows by the RvF: “Spices, scents of garrigue, cyst, bay leaf, complex with notes of cherry, the fruit is graceful and the tannins luscious. Perfect for accompany a lamb tagine with prunes.
