The United States stops providing Ukraine with intelligence information, according to information from several directions. The stop can be a hard blow for Ukraine.
– The United States has completely world -leading abilities. The British have also shared intelligence, but the United States is the best, says Peter Haldén at the Swedish Defense College.
Intelligence information has been an important part of US help to Ukraine during recent years’ war, a help that is questioned under President Donald Trump and withdrawn to put pressure on Ukraine.
Wednesday’s information that the United States is not continuing to share intelligence information is not very surprising, according to Peter Haldén, associate professor and university lecturer in war science at the Swedish Defense College.
– It has been possible to foresee that ever since Trump was elected.
Signal tension
Notices from the United States have been important to Ukraine during the three years that have passed since Russia’s large -scale invasion. Among other things, it is about signal voltage, ie the collection of electronic signals in radio and internet traffic that can be listened to well into hostile territory.
– It has been clear throughout this war, but also especially in some situations – for example in the Ukrainian counter -offensive – that it plays a very big role that you have this type of resources on your side.
No free flow
Although the United States continues to share the intelligence information with countries that are allied with Ukraine, it is hardly helpful.
– In all likelihood, the United States will say that they can share their intelligence situation but that it must not be split further. There is no free information flow in this world. Information is hard currency, so if it is to have an effect on Ukraine then you do not want it to just flow through the UK.
