Expert praises EA’s new €80 game after 20 hours – but warns PC gamers of major problem

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

YouTuber Skill Up has a good reputation among gamers as a tough and objective critic. He checked out EA’s new €80 game “Wild Hearts” (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X) and after 20 hours he praises the game, even calling it “almost excellent”. But he warns about how poorly Wild Hearts runs on PC. The developers also admit: Wild Hearts has a “CPU bottleneck” problem.

What does Skill Up say about Wild Hearts? Many MeinMMO readers still know Skill Up from his videos for The Division. He enjoys an excellent reputation in the gaming scene.

Skill Up now says to Wild Hearts (via twitter):

  • He played Wild Hearts for 20 hours – the game was “very good, almost excellent”
  • It’s very much like Monster Hunter but brings new ideas and the core gameplay loop feels faster yet more strategic at the same time
  • He warns players, however, that the game runs absolutely lousy on the PC.

Wild Hearts runs really bad with 2080 TI, says YouTuber

What’s the deal with PC performance? Skill Up says: On a 2080 TI, Wild Hearts doesn’t even manage 40 frames on medium settings. It’s stable and playable, but it gets worse in multiplayer.

As you go further into the game, the game gets significantly uglier and just runs worse. In the group, the game becomes almost unplayable:

“Great game, but PC performance is shockingly poor”.

How is this discussed? Skill Up’s comment is discussed on reddit. Apparently, the problems of Wild Hearts on the PC are already known:

  • One user says the game has a “bottleneck” on PC because it only uses one CPU core
  • In general, one wonders how that can be and why the game is coming onto the market in this condition – that should be noticed in the quality assurance
  • The anger is certainly intensified by the relatively high prices that EA is asking for the game (70 € on the PC, 80 € for the consoles).

Developers announce patch for better PC performance

is there hope The development team behind the game, Omega Force, has announced (via reddit) that they plan to release a patch next week to fix the “CPU bottleneck” issue discovered by the team.

It’s said to improve performance on mid-range and high-end CPUs.

They are also working on the support of DLSS and FSR – These improvements should come with further patches to Wild Hearts.

Do all PC gamers have problems? As MeinMMO author Benedict Grothaus says, Wild Hearts ran fine for PC – so the problems don’t seem to be universal, but appear depending on the hardware configuration of the PC.

Wild Hearts is the game for everyone who feels a void after the Elden Ring – you don’t die that often either
