Expert hoards tons of boxes and uses them to level a new character to max level in 7 minutes

In Diablo 4 there are different methods to get your characters to the max level. Diablo expert wudijo reached level 60 by opening chests.

Which boxes did he open? In his live stream on Twitch on October 12, 2024, Diablo expert wudijo opened numerous boxes that he received from the “Whispering Tree” at torment level 4. The boxes contain items, nightmare seals, but also important mats. The “Forgotten Souls” drops from the Whisper Crates have recently been increased.

You will receive a chest if you collect 10 “Ghastly Gifts” in Diablo 4. You get the gifts for various activities in the game that are marked as “Whispers”. You can see this by the reddish/pink symbols on the map.

The following activities can appear as whisper tasks:

  • Whisper tasks in the open world – some of them are always active
  • Whisper tasks in the Hellflood
  • Whisper Dungeons
  • Hell hordes
  • About bosses and world bosses
  • Realmwalker events
  • The lower town of Kurast
  • PvP bosses and PvP rituals
  • In general, you should always keep an eye on the map from time to time, as Uber bosses and the lower city of Kurast can now also be marked as whisper tasks. For tasks such as dungeons, bosses and the undercity you will receive 5 gifts each. For two of them you get a box.

The Realm Shifter is the mechanic of Season 6, which started on October 8, 2024. Here you can see the trailer for “Season of Rising Hate”:

With 27 chests to level 60

How did he level up with the boxes? You will receive XP when you exchange your gifts at the Whispering Tree for a chest. As soon as you open it, you will also get XP again. wudijo collected a bunch of boxes in his loot chest at torment level 4, created a new character and opened the boxes with it.

In the YouTube video for the live stream you can see that a few boxes didn’t give XP. This could have been because the floor was too crowded. After wudijo picked up and dismantled some items, he collected XP again. It didn’t seem to make any difference whether it was a normal or large box.

With 27 boxes he reached the new max level of 60. Opening only took a few minutes – collecting the boxes of course took longer. Many tasks are completed, especially at high levels, while grinding – such as world bosses or tasks in the flood of hell.

Does that make sense? In the video, the Diablo expert says at the end that the time required to collect the boxes is probably no less than what it would take to level up. An alternative is to collect 5 boxes and thus level up to level 40.

If you play with your main character for a long time and already have good gear, it is a good idea to collect the boxes for other characters in the season. Gold and many mats are shared on the account for the season anyway, and you can store items from the box in the shared loot chest.

We also tested the method and leveled up to level 34 with 5 boxes from torment level 3. Two of these boxes were legendary. Whether you find the method useful for leveling up your characters or whether you prefer to use “normal” activities for this is up to you.

There are different methods to level up characters. In the endgame, the pit in Season 6 seems to be a particularly good option. Before you get there, activities like the hellflood or (nightmare) dungeons are suitable.

With the first expansion, Vessel of Hatred, 20 new dungeons were added to Diablo 4. Normal dungeons used to be too boring for many players, but the ones in Nahantu seem to be well received.
