The dismantling of the Norwegian fur industry is more expensive than expected, according to figures from the authority Landbruksdirektoratet.

In 2018, it was decided that Norway’s approximately 200 fox and mink farms in Norway would be decommissioned by 2025.

The government then calculated that it would cost 505 million Norwegian kroner (492 million Swedish kronor). But the state has so far paid out 603 million Norwegian kroner to fur farmers who wound up their operations.
