Riitta-Liisa Roponen will compete in the skiing world cup in Jällivaara next weekend. Roponen is part of Finland’s 11-athlete team.

Riitta-Liisa Roponen, 45, is part of the Finnish team in next weekend’s World Cup skiing in Jällivaara, Sweden. Roponen has competed for the last time in the World Cup in December 2021 in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, in the Tour de Ski competition.
In Jällivaara, the freestyle 10-kilometer intermediate start races and 4×7.5-kilometer relays will be held. Finland is heading to Jällivaara with a team of 11 athletes.
Roponen was recently the best Finnish woman in the ten kilometer freestyle skiing FIS competitions in Olos, Muonio. Roponen, who finished sixth, was among others Krista Pärmäkoski and Kerttu from Niska faster.
Roponen announced the end of his international skiing career in April 2022, but will now return to the World Cup at least for a while.
Finland’s top skier Iivo Niskanen skip the Jällivaara World Cup. Niskanen told about his decision at the opening of the World Cup in Ruka. Niskanen plans to compete next time in mid-December in Trondheim, Norway.
Norwegian stars Kläbo and Weng on the sidelines
Norwegian superstar Johannes Hösflot Kläbo not going to Jällivaara. Kläbo, who recently contracted the corona virus, said that he needed training time, so he will not be seen in Jällivaara.
Kläbo was third in the sprint at Ruka, 14th in the 10-kilometer traditional split start and 21st in the 20-kilometer free combined start race.
Norway’s top skiers are also gone Tiril Udnes Wengwho was already sidelined from Ruka because of the corona.
