Exhibition honors the disappeared postal workers of Leersum: ‘The telephone box is now a junk room’

Exhibition honors the disappeared postal workers of Leersum The telephone

There has been no post office in Leersum for almost 20 years: the last one closed in 2003. Reason enough for the Historical Association of the village to summarize the story of postal history in a new exhibition. Hans Stijn (83) grew up in his parents’ bustling PTT post office on Rijksstraatweg in Leersum. “I often helped stamp the postcards. And at Christmas there was so much mail that I had to help deliver too.”
