Exhibition at Quai Branly Kehinde Wiley painter of African presidents

The exhibition Daedalus of Power, at the Musée du Quai Branly, in Paris, unveils a unique series of eleven portraits of African heads of state painted by Kehinde Wiley. The American artist of Nigerian origin has been working there since 2012 and this is the first time that his confidential project has been shown to the public. A major figure in contemporary art for around ten years, famous for his portrait of Barak Obama in 2018, he overturns the codes of official portraiture, mixing in his hyperrealistic and colorful works on the edge of kitsch, classic references and pop culture .
