She found Vianen boring, the time was depressing and she felt unprecedentedly lonely. Yet it was the inspiration for Ina Boudier-Bakker’s best book. In De Straat, Boudier-Bakker cynically describes the daily life of the town at the beginning of the twentieth century. The book has been around for 100 years and is central to the new exhibition of the Stedelijk Museum Vianen.
