The politician was expelled from the Sweden Democrats after a decision by the Sweden Democrats’ party board on April 22, due to a personnel matter within the party.
Renounces all political assignments
In an incoming letter to the municipality on April 30, Sager writes:
“I hereby renounce all my political assignments. These include all assignments where I am a representative of the Sweden Democrats, in addition to this, I wish to be removed from the municipality’s website as a representative of the party”.
The formal decision to dismiss Jonathan Sager from his political duties will be taken at the municipal council on May 27.
According to an agreement
According to Martin Kirchberg (SD), district chairman of the party, they must have agreed together that Sager would renounce his political duties if he was expelled from the party.
Controversial plays
Jonathan Sager attracted national attention when the party wanted to stop a storytime for toddlers with drag queens at a library in Kalmar in 2022.
SVT has tried to reach Jonathan Sager for a comment on several occasions.
