Todd Phillips celebrated the one-year period until the release of the anticipated sequel with a photo.
The Joker movie, which was met with more than expected interest and grossed over $1 billion worldwide by interpreting DC’s iconic villain from an innovative perspective, has come to the fore again with its sequel. “Joker: Folie a Deux” wrapped production earlier this year and will star Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck / Joker and Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn. The film’s release date has been determined as October 4, 2024. Todd Phillips celebrated this special day with a new behind-the-scenes shot, taking into account the four years that have passed since the release of the first film.

We see Phoenix in the shot taken on a rainy night. The note added to the frame reads: “October 4th. We are grateful for all the messages of support. We embarked on a wonderful journey four years ago. Unforgettable moments, and more to come.”
What Will Joker 2 Offer?
“Joker: Folie a Deux” was designed as a musical that will tell the story of the deep relationship between Arthur Fleck / Joker, played by Phoenix, and Harley Quinn, played by Gaga, and their twisted love. It was also shared that important parts of the movie took place in Arkham Asylum. Star names such as Zazie Beetz, Brendon Gleeson, Catherine Keener and Jacob Lofland will also star in the film.
Zazie Beetz said, “It never ceases to amaze me how creatively Todd approaches the character. I love the magic of musicals and how characters express their deep emotions through song and dance.” He expressed his feelings as follows.
How Will Harley Quinn Be Interpreted in Joker 2?
“Joker” and “Folie a Deux” are being tackled outside the main DC Universe continuity as part of “Elseworlds,” which also includes James Gunn and Peter Safran. For this reason, Gaga is not expected to reprise her role as Harley Quinn in the general DC canon. But Margot Robbie is very excited about Lady Gaga’s portrayal of this character.
Regarding Gaga’s role, Robbie said, “For me, Harley Quinn had to be one of those immortal characters that could be interpreted by different actors, like Batman or Macbeth.” He shared his thoughts as follows.
