This swashbuckling film is the perfect alternative to the European Football Championship on Sunday
Duel of the Swords is based on a novel called Le Bossu, which has already been made into a film several timeswhich translates as “The Hunchback”. And it is precisely this hunchback that Chevalier Lagardère disguises himself as in order to infiltrate his worst enemy. The story was made into a film in 1959 as Knight of the Night.
In Duel of Swords, Philippe de Broca, Daniel Auteuil and Fabrice Luchini set off a real firework display. Anyone who can appreciate the classic cloak-and-dagger genre in the slightest will get their money’s worth here. The equipment is fantastic, the scenery is fantastic too and the story takes on Shakespearean proportions.
