Exceptional director films one of the most successful video game series of all time

Neill Blomkamp made a name for himself with the terrific alien drama District 9 in 2009 and has since stayed true to the sci-fi genre with films like Elysium and Chappie. now he is heading in a whole new direction. He is to bring the adaptation of the Playstation game series Gran Turismo to the screen. Sci-fi director Neil Blomkamp is set to film one of the biggest video game hits

This is reported by the Hollywood Reporter, among others. Accordingly, Blomkamp’s project should tell the story of a teenager who finds his way from the video game to the real race track. Jason Hall (American Sniper) is writing the screenplay. Gran Turismo is one of the most successful video game series in the world (via Polyphony).

This is Blomkamp’s second sci-fi streak after the horror film Demonic. Video game fans will be happy that a big name is now associated with the project, which has been brewing for a long time. Others, however, will be wondering when to expect District 10.

When will Neill Blomkamp’s Gran Turismo film hit theaters?

Nothing is known about the exact story or the cast of the film. The adaptation is obviously still in a very early stage of development. With a release before end of 2023 is not to be expected.
