The man on the excavator was able to leave the vehicle in time. “I spoke to the driver,” says spokesperson Raymond de Jong of rail manager ProRail. “His engine failed while he was on the track. He had nowhere to go and was very lucky. He felt the impact, but got out of the vehicle unscathed.”
