BAC 2022. Candidates for the bac will take the first written tests between May 11 and 13. Two exams await high school students, those for specialty courses. What subjects should we expect? We take stock.
[Mis à jour le 4 mai 2022 à 14h44] Last straight line for the reviews of baccalaureate candidates! The specialty tests, first session of written exams, scheduled for May 11 to 13 are approaching. If the senior high school students have had two additional months to study the program and prepare thanks to the postponement of the tests, initially scheduled for March, the stress remains present. All the candidates will take the exams for the two specialty courses they took in first and last year and in total no less than twelve tests, one for each subject, will take place. For this second baccalaureate organized since the implementation of the reform and the return of the written tests after two baccalaureate sessions disrupted by the Covid-19, the Ministry of Education has considered some adjustments for the candidates.
If they have already given time to prepare for the exams in class, the candidates will benefit from final review sessions in their specialty lessons during the two days of classes preceding the tests, i.e. Monday 9 and Tuesday 11 May. But the most important development and which should offer the best chances of success for high school students is the possibility for candidates to choose the exercises on which they will be assessed for the exam. “For each subject, when the specialty allows it, the candidates will have the choice on the questions or the exercises to be treated”, specifies the ministry.
The results of the written tests are among the 60% of the baccalaureate mark assessed with final exams, but to obtain their diploma, high school students must also count on the 40% of the mark which is based on continuous assessment. After this first round of tests, candidates will have to prepare for the French, philosophy and oral examinations scheduled between mid-June and July 1.
What are the dates of the 2022 baccalaureate specialty exams?
Once again the calendar of the bac exams has been turned upside down, while the specialty exams were to be anticipated and take place between March 14 and 16, they are finally postponed from Wednesday May 11 to Friday May 13. The Ministry of National Education justified its decision by the consequences of the Covid-19 epidemic on the start of the school year. By shifting the tests by two months, the ministry wanted to “preserve equal treatment between candidates and allow everyone to calmly prepare for these tests”.
If the tests are spread over three days, each candidate will only take two exams, those corresponding to the specialty courses studied in first and final year. Between the 11th and 13th, the high school students will all have either a day to breathe between the tests, or an additional one-day period to revise before the exams or they will leave with a day in advance of the test session. This detail is to be taken into account to get in good condition before the exams and especially to manage your stress. What subjects for the specialty tests?
Each specialty test, whether specific to the general baccalaureate or to a technological baccalaureate, presents its own programme. The candidate is therefore likely to be assessed on all the subjects studied during the year. The workload may also be heavy for the 2022 baccalaureate, the ministry has decided to lighten the candidates’ revisions a little. In each specialty teaching, he has divided the themes of the program into three categories: subjects reserved for examinations in even years, those assessed only during odd years and the essential and/or main themes which may fall in the final examinations each year. To find it, the Ministry of National Education website shared his new subject-by-subject classification.
Candidates will have between three and four hours to compose on each specialty test but once is not custom, the course and content of the exams are specific to each subject. For all the written tests and depending on the teaching assessed, the candidates will have to answer questions, solve problems, carry out various exercises or even write essays. One thing is certain “these specialty tests will include adjustments to their subjects, which will always guarantee the candidate a choice, whether between questions or between exercises”, promised the Ministry of National Education on January 28. Concretely, the subjects will submit several questions or several exercises to the candidate and the latter will have to choose to answer or to carry out a certain number of them. Be careful because some subjects will provide compulsory exercises for all candidates and others optional.
When will the results of the specialty tests be published?
Given the postponement of the specialty tests to at least May, the results of the exams will be published at the same time as the others, i.e. on July 5, 2022. The marks obtained in the written tests of the specialty courses, and normally known in March, should be taken into account in the Parcoursup file. As a result of the postponement of the tests, it is ultimately the averages of each candidate in these lessons over the three terms of the first class and the first two terms of the final class that have been entered in the orientation files.
What are specialty exams?
Since the reform of the baccalaureate, the S, ES and L streams no longer exist in high school. And the baccalaureate is no longer just a set of written tests in all subjects concentrated in one week at the end of the year. From now on, the continuous assessment is taken into account up to 40% of the final mark and various tests (French, teaching of specialties, philosophy and great oral) make it possible to complete the evaluation at the end of high school.
The specialty tests correspond to the choice of three specialties made by each high school student in first year. In the final year, he only keeps two and takes written tests on them before the end of the year. The results are of significant importance. Weighted 16 each, they correspond to 32% of the final grade.
When choosing their specialties, students have the choice between: arts; history-geography, geopolitics and political science; humanity, literature, philosophy; literature and languages and cultures of antiquity; Foreign and regional languages, literatures and cultures; math ; digital and computer science; chemical Physics ; economics and social sciences; engineering Sciences ; Life and earth sciences ; biology-ecology sciences.
