What players say: Blizzard shared this information ahead of time and it received mixed reception from the community. While most were disappointed or outraged, the best reactions were neutral when players would not buy the pass anyway.

Now, however, a user on Reddit has caused a stir with a new bill. He calculates that the 666 platinum is not simply an allusion to the number of the devil, but quite deliberately just not enough. He calculates:

  • For 2 Battle Passes you pay 1,000 platinum each and get 666 back. That’s 1,332 Platinum after 2 Battle Passes.
  • With this you can buy the third one and now have 332 platinum left.
  • If you also play through the third Battle Pass, you would get 332 + 666 = 998 platinum, exactly 2 too few to buy a fourth.

    • The player accuses Blizzard of calculation and criticizes that something like that is not addressed in the Campfire chats. With over 8,700 upvotes and 1,200 comments in just a few hours, the thread is one of the largest on the subreddit.

    The reactions of other users are surprisingly cool. It doesn’t really seem to affect many people at all. They say: That’s why you just don’t buy a Battle Pass, then that’s no problem at all.

    Others say they don’t see the point in the system at all. Cosmetics are unimportant to her, even more so in an ActionRPG, where you see far too little of them and are usually alone on the road anyway.

    Even druids are there, who think that it doesn’t matter to them anyway. Anyone who constantly walks around as a bear or wolf does not see their armor. So no reason to spend money on chic clothes.

    In some comments you can also read plain cynicism and sarcasm. The users prophesy top hats for bears, compare the lady in the shop with the supreme evil and crack other sayings. However, hardly anyone is happy about the system in this form.
