Former police officer Brett Hankison has been convicted of civil rights violations after shooting into an apartment during a raid in Louisville, Kentucky in 2020.
26-year-old Breonna Taylor was sleeping in the apartment when she was hit by eight of the police’s bullets and died.
Three plainclothes officers entered the apartment and a shootout broke out between her boyfriend and the officers.
The boyfriend says he thought it was a burglary and that he shot in self-defense.

A fire has broken out in a villa in Ängelholm in Skåne.
The emergency services were called to the scene at 00:39 on Saturday night.
– Several people were in the villa, but everyone was outside when the emergency services arrived, says duty officer Tobias Aldgård.
There are no reports of any injuries.
The fire started on the ground floor and then spread to the roof.
– The fire is not under control. It is a construction fire that is quite complicated and we are working hard to expose the construction.
At present, there is no obvious risk of spread.
– There are several houses next door and we are working to prevent the fire from spreading there. We will be there for several more hours, says Tobias Aldgård.

The US is beefing up militarily in the Middle East to show support for Israel and deter Iran, the Pentagon announced. Among other things, more fighters capable of shooting down ballistic robots and bombers of the B-52 type are to be moved to the area.
“Should Iran, its partners or its proxies use this to target American personnel or American interests in the region, the United States will take all necessary steps to defend our forces,” Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder said.
The reinforcements will begin arriving in the coming months, according to Ryder.

Tens of thousands of costumed people had taken to the streets of downtown Orlando in the United States to celebrate Halloween when a person suddenly opened fire on the crowd.
Two people have been killed and another seven injured. The injured are being treated in hospital and should not have life-threatening injuries, AP reports.
A 17-year-old boy was arrested at the scene on suspicion of two murders and several attempted murders. The police have not yet been able to establish a motive for the shooting.
A person has been beaten during a party in a residence in Tranås.
Ambulance and police have been called to the scene.
– There are quite a lot of people on site, says Angelica Forsberg, police spokesperson.
The person has been taken to hospital by ambulance.
A man has been reported missing in Vetlanda.
The police are looking for the man in a wooded area northeast of Vetlanda.
Among other things, helicopters, tracking dogs and drones are used in the search effort.
Shortly before midnight, the police state that the man was found.
The man is said to be uninjured, but chilled.
Emergency services and police have received an alarm about an explosion at an apartment building in Perstorp.
– We received the alarm at 21.38. According to our information, a stairwell is full of smoke, says Mikaela Warhed, team leader at SOS Alarm.
According to the police, it was fireworks.
– Some people have set off firecrackers in the stairwell, says Filip Annas, the police’s press officer.

When an eight-year-old girl in North Zealand in Denmark came home after going “trick or treat”, her parents made a shocking discovery. Someone had given the girl a bag of cocaine, reports TV2.
The girl’s mother tells the TV channel that she quickly sensed that something was wrong. At first she thought it might be sugar, but after both she and her husband tasted some of the powder, they realized it was something else.
They contacted the police, who were able to confirm on Thursday evening that it was cocaine.
– I am still shaken by what could have happened. It must have happened accidentally when the bag ended up in the candy basket, says the girl’s mother to TV2.
On several occasions, young people in Karlstad have thrown eggs at a private person’s residence.
It has now been reported to the police.
“No person has been served with suspicion, but witness information is available,” the police write on their website.
The incidents are being investigated as harassment.
Last year, a woman in the municipality of Hudiksvall was sentenced to five months in prison for various fraud offences.
The sentence was to be carried out in the spring of this year.
But in March, a death certificate was sent to the Tax Agency and the National Board of Health and Welfare. The certificate stated that the woman had died in a hospital in Västernorrland.
However, it turned out that the certificate was dated with the wrong year, that the surgical department was misspelled and that the woman was alive, reports Hudiksvall’s newspaper.
The police suspect that it is the woman herself who sent in the certificate and faked her own death to avoid the prison sentence.
A crime for which the woman is now charged.
A motorist who refused to stop at a police checkpoint in Kristianstad has been arrested.
The man was first about to run over one of the policemen, then he left the scene, stopped the car and ran a short distance.
With the help of a dog patrol, the man could then be found.
It is still unclear what crimes the man is suspected of.
Another high-ranking leader of the terrorist movement Hamas has been killed in an Israeli airstrike against Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, Israel’s military said on social media.
Izz al-Din Kassab was, among other things, responsible for Hamas’ relations with other groups operating inside Gaza, the military writes.
He was, according to Israel, one of the last high-ranking leaders of Hamas’ political wing still alive.
The death has not been confirmed by independent sources.

Ikea Industry in Älmhult has to pay a company fine of SEK 300,000 after a workplace accident, local media reports.
In February this year, an employee got his hand stuck in a grinder. The accident resulted in the employee receiving permanent pain.
According to the prosecutor, the person who was responsible for the work environment had not sufficiently assessed the risk of the work phase. Among other things, there was no protection to stop workers from coming into contact with the moving parts of the machine.
The machine’s emergency stop function had also not been fully checked.

About 20 soldiers have been taken hostage by supporters of Bolivia’s ex-president Evo Morales. The kidnapping took place in the province of Chapare, according to military sources.
In the attack on a military facility, weapons and ammunition were also stolen.
Sources in Bolivia’s military say that “armed groups” are behind the kidnapping.
Morales was forced to leave power after he tried to be re-elected by changing Bolivia’s constitution. He then left the country, and has since come into conflict with the ruling party within his old party.

The police station in the large city of Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine was hit by two Russian robots on Friday evening. A policeman was killed in the attack.
“Today the Russian enemy targeted a police station in central Kharkiv, one policeman was killed and another 26 police officers were injured, as well as four civilians,” announced Ivan Vygivskyj, who is the national police chief, on Facebook.
At the same time, the media company Bloomberg stated that Russian forces are advancing in the eastern part of Ukraine with increased intensity, while Russia is strengthening its military offensive capabilities in the Kursk region with North Korean soldiers.
