It has long been clear to practically everyone that things are different behind the scenes of Germany’s Next Topmodel than in front of the cameras. This principle applies to practically every reality show where a lot staged for quotas or intentionally misleading the audience.
The most detailed and fierce allegations to date against the ProSieben show with Heidi Klum now come from Lijana Kaggwa. She was a candidate for Germany’s Next Topmodel in 2020 until she left voluntarily in the final. In a new YouTube video, she rises serious fake allegations against the production company of the show and talks about manipulation, extreme shooting conditions and cyber-bullying up to suicidal thoughts.
Ex-GNTM candidate breaks confidentiality and unpacks
At the beginning, Kaggwa says directly that she is breaking contractual confidentiality with her video and is sure to be sued as a result. But her information is more important to her and so she first talks about the fact that quota at GNTM is above everything else. Among other things, she tells of the extreme shooting conditions in which 30 women are “locked up” with a smartphone and TV ban and no foods with sugar or fat allowed to eat.
Then she goes into the editors behind the camera, who build trust with the candidates in order to manipulate them or put sentences in their mouths. Just by working with the cut become so Statements often taken out of context and deliberately misinterpreted.

Kaggwa’s allegations also include that the feet of some models were creamed by stylists so that they would slip on the catwalk in high heels and fly straight out of the show.
Personally, too, the ex-candidate was intentionally put in a bad light and staged as a bitch of the then Germany’s next top model season. This would have her hate messages every second received via social media with the worst insults. The cyberbullying even triggered suicidal thoughts in her.
With her video, Lijana Kaggwa wants to uncover the manipulative mechanisms of the production company and at the same time Sign against cyber bullying put. There is no official statement from the production company or the broadcaster.
