Jason “Thor Hall” is on YouTube and Twitch as “Pirate Software”. The 37-year-old used to work for Blizzard. After his much-discussed expulsion from the “OnlyFangs” guild on a hardcore WoW server, he has now announced that he will no longer be showing World of Warcraft in the stream. He comments on his expulsion from the guild.
Why was Pirate Software kicked out of the guild on Twitch? A huge amount of anger has been pouring out about pirate software for days. The starting point was a pull in the Dire Maul instance that went wrong.
Pirate Software retreated from the fight as a magician and fled towards the exit. When asked to return and help fight, he said he had no mana. Therefore he couldn’t help. During the pull, 2 members of the guild died.
He was subsequently accused of misbehaving in the situation. As a magician, he could have saved the group if he had kept his calm, but he fled in a cowardly manner. He himself has repeatedly said that it is the job of magicians to save their groups in such situations. He was also criticized for not taking responsibility for his behavior in the situation and for handling the case poorly.
The issue came to a head in the days following the incident. Pirate Software was met with hostility and he threatened to report people to Twitch. Ultimately, the founder of the guild, Sodapoppin, drew a line in the sand and kicked Pirate Software out of the guild.

Pirate Software is done with WoW Classic after being kicked out
This is what Pirate Software now says: Jason Hall ends all speculation and says clearly:
“Guys, I will no longer be playing Hardcore World of Warcraft on stream. I just don’t care about all this stuff anymore. I don’t give a shit.”
In doing so, he also puts a stop to speculation about founding his own guild. He is out. He’s no longer interested in any of that.
Pirate Software says: If people came here because they thought the whole operation was part of a big soap opera, then he had to tell them: He was not part of a soap opera and refused to play a role in it. He’s doing other things now and that should be fine now.
Pirate Software feels treated unfairly
This is what he says about the expulsion: Pirate Software believes the reason for his expulsion was that he threatened to report people on Twitch who attacked him for the incident.
Why did you kick me out of the guild? So, they kicked me out of the guild because I said I would report people who send me abusive comments and incite their community to start hate raids on me. What they didn’t understand is that I only meant a few people.
According to Pirate Software, he only actually reported a single content creator at the time. There are now 3. But these are all people who sent their communities to attack Pirate Software and who talked about it live on stream.
He wouldn’t have “reported everyone who talked about him.” But people would have assumed this about him:
I didn’t report everyone who spoke about the topic. People just want to pin that on me. But that was the reason they kicked me out of the guild, that was the reason. So: I understand that. But they didn’t really look at it. The expulsion was simply a hassle. That was stupid, to be honest. This shit doesn’t belong on the platform and I’m happy to report it.
Pirate Software has enjoyed a strong rise as a content creator in 2024, but after the failed pull in WoW Classic he is now in the crosshairs. He has apparently made some enemies in the last few months, who are now making various accusations against him.
