After criminal at least 15 ran at the US broadcaster CBS, the series was revised after a short break and continued in a slightly modified form under the title Criminal Minds: Evolution in the streaming service Paramount+. From then on, the focus was on a continuous action.
Criminal Minds: Evolution returned to the fall-the-week pattern, but nevertheless brought back a majority of the familiar ensemble. These include Joe Montegna as David Rossi, Paget Brewster as Emily Prentiss, AJ Cook as Jennifer Jareau, Adam Rodriguez as Luke Alvarez and Aisha Tyler as Dr. Tara Lewis.
Criminal Minds Season 2: What happened to Josh Stewarts Detective Will Lamontagne, Jr.?
Lamontagne also wants to be missing, Jr. was not missing. The Detective embodied by Josh Stewart appeared in the original series as an important supporting figure and often undergone the construction unit. In season 2, however, there is no trace. Is the figure dead? Was she written from the series? Or was there noise behind the scenes?
We do not learn too concrete details about Will’s whereabouts in the 2nd season of Criminal Minds: Evolution. The series is satisfied with a brief reference that Will is busy with other cases. That sounds quite plausible, but not as if someone had invested a lot of energy in the Writers’ room.
When actor Josh Stewart was asked on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) a year ago whether he was returning, he answered:
No, Unfortunately my days are like Lamontagne, Jr.. You were just the best.
When Criminal Minds: Evolution Showrunner Erica Messer was asked by TV Line to Will’s fate in May 2024, he said:
We tried to make it possible for this year, but It just didn’t work out. We want to love, JJ wants to … and this is always part of her world and character.
While Stewart’s statement sounds like he is no longer returning to the Criminal Minds Universe, Messer’s statement sounds a little more open. What the future brings is uncertain. The 3rd season of Criminial Minds: Evolution is officially ordered. How exactly the cast looks in the sequel – nothing has been known about that so far.
