With Guardians of the Galaxy 3, MCU fans are in for a very moving finale. Director James Gunn has already quit one figure death on which one can speculate. At the latest with the first trailer, Rocket Raccoon in particular with its background story moves into the emotional center of the Marvel blockbuster.
This also fits the new big villain High Evolutionarywho is briefly seen in the preview and is behind Rocket’s creation in the comics.

Guardians villain High Evolutionary shares a brutal past with Rocket
As explained by The Direct, among others, the new Guardians of the Galaxy 3 villain and Rocket share a crucial backstory in the comics. Here it was the High Evolutionary who create the raccoon created by genetic experiments Has. If and how Guardians of the Galaxy 3 picks up on these brutal comic roots is not yet clear. But the first trailer for the MCU sequel already shows one Flashback with little Baby Rocketwhich suggests that we also experience the superhero team member’s backstory in the film.
In the comics, the High Evolutionary was first an Earth human named Herbert Edgar Wyndham, who was was obsessed with genetic experiments as a child and tortured animals for it. He was later expelled from Oxford University for his insane methods and became a mad scientist. In the comics, he was also the creator of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.
In addition to his scientific knowledge, for example Telepathy, telekinesis and superhuman strength to the super powers of the High Evolutionary. Chukwudi Iwuji, who portrays the villain in Guardians of the Galaxy 3, described his character to Collider as follows:
