Since Monday, December 5, Norman Thavaud has been placed in police custody. TF1 Info reveals on Tuesday evening the remarks that the famous YouTubeur would have made to the investigators.
[Mis à jour le 6 décembre 2022 à 19h44] While the police custody of Norman Thavaud, alias “Norman makes videos”, was extended Tuesday morning December 6, TF1 News revealed exclusively, at the end of the day, what the famous YouTubeur would have confided to the investigators responsible for questioning him. According to the television channel, these would be comments he would have made during the very first hours of his interrogation. In broad outline, the man with nearly 12 million subscribers said he was “weakened” by this affair, before returning at length to the accusations of Maggie Desmarais, a young Quebecer who claims to have been manipulated by the one whom she considered her idol.
Denouncing a “little unhealthy game of emotional attachment”, Maggie Desmarais believes that Norman Thavaud, almost 15 years her senior, would have done everything to obtain photos and videos of a sexual nature from her. “I was young, I admired him, I easily fell into the trap”, she confided in 2021 to the Quebec magazine Urbaniaclaiming that he now wants “Norman [Thavaud] finally accepts what he has done”. However, he gives him a completely different version, depicting a “fragile and unstable” young woman with whom he would have preferred to cut ties over time. “Everything she does against me is very orchestrated”, he would even have told the investigators.
“Maggie has a problem with me that is not new”
Faced with investigators, Monday, December 5, Norman Thavaud would therefore have refuted the accusations of Maggie Desmarais as a whole. “I never asked for nudes. But there was seduction with people with whom there was a feeling,” said the YouTuber when asked about his exchanges with young women in general. As for Maggie Desmarais, whom he claims to have ignored during their exchanges that she was a minor, Norman Thavaud would have immediately dropped: “Maggie has a problem with me that does not date from yesterday.”
“She’s always had a fix on me. She says she doesn’t want to ruin my life, but that’s what she’s been doing every week for three years now,” he would have said again, as reported by TF1 Info. According to Norman Thavaud, the exchanges between them took place. They would have started in 2017. According to him, it was Maggie Desmarais who would have taken the first step, contacting him on Snapchat. He claims to have at that time replied “nicely” and “without any ambiguity”. The rest of the exchanges would have been spread over “a year”.
“I found her really fragile and unstable”
“After a while, we found each other nice. She began a form of seduction. I let myself get carried away a little,” Norman Thavaud would have told investigators. What about their missed meeting in Canada? Tells him to have gone across the Atlantic “to work at the ‘Just for Laughs’ festival” and not to see her. And to add: “The more it went, the more I had the feeling that she was becoming intrusive in my life. She is starting to become oppressive, she writes me crazy things like: ‘I love you'”. According to him, the young woman even kept an Instagram account “entirely dedicated” to him, on which we could find no less than “98 poems” in his honor. “Everything was attested by a bailiff. Since then, the poems have been deleted. She deleted everything that did not go in her direction”, would have explained Norman Thavaud again.
“I found her really fragile and unstable”, would also have confided Norman Thavaud, recalling their exchanges before his arrival in Canada. He then explains that he “decided, in a long benevolent message on Snapchat” to tell him that they were “not on the same wavelength” and that he “was not interested”. “She thought we were going to make our life together. After that, I stopped talking to her. I turned the page and I haven’t tried a single time to get in touch with her since,” reportedly he told investigators.
Norman Thavaud, in tears in front of the investigators
Delivering a completely different version of the facts than that of Maggie Desmarais on their virtual relationship, Norman Thavaud would have specified to the investigators that he would have heard of his version of the story to her in 2020, when this one would have delivered on their exchanges on his Instagram account. Faced with the investigators, the YouTuber would have started to cry at the mention of the “death threats”, the “hordes of insults” and the “cyberharassment” that he claims to have suffered since. And to conclude: “Everything she does against me is very orchestrated.”
