CD Projekt Red has completely overhauled Cyberpunk 2077. The new update 2.0 changes almost every system in the game, fixes errors and now makes some builds significantly stronger – or weaker. The players are enthusiastic, although most of them now have a more difficult time.
What is Update 2.0?
This is what the players praise: Since the update, players on Reddit have been discussing how much better Cyberpunk 2077 has become. After the game fell short of expectations, especially at release, some are now giving the role-playing game another chance.
The consensus is: Cyberpunk 2077 with 2.0 is finally the game that we wanted to have when it was released. Or at least very close to the state one expected. Everything feels smoother, just better.
Bug fixes in particular seem to have been necessary. In a thread with over 1,200 comments it simply says: “The game feels 10 times better, looks a little better. It’ll take me a while to get used to the new controls, but I’m glad I can no longer skip dialogue by crouching down.”
“Being a cyber ninja has never been more fun”
In other threads, players talk about how Cyberpunk 2077 has now become significantly more demanding. Adam Smasher, for example, who people used to beat with a giant dildo for fun, is now a real challenge. Like everything in the game: “Breathing is a challenge,” jokes one user.
The cyber psychos that would have been easily wiped away in the past are now real boss fights in which you have to be careful. The AI is still a bit messy at times, but the fights feel better, more satisfying – as if they actually fit the game style.
The revised skill system will particularly please netrunners and players who rely on stealth and hacking skills. They weren’t necessarily bad in Cyberpunk 2077 so far, but they fell significantly short compared to the other abilities.
Now all Netrunner players first have to read through and understand a few dozen skills, but then it’s really fun to build a corresponding build with them. The combos that are now possible are particularly extremely strong.
Update 2.0 is just the first part of a major update for Cyberpunk 2077. The Phantom Liberty DLC will be released on September 26th. MeinMMO editor Sophia Weiß has already alluded to this:
