Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred – Content, story and new class

Where does Vessel of Hatred take place? With Vessel of Hatred, the new area of Torajan comes into play, which locals also call Nahantu. The land is a jungle area and therefore looks different from what you know from Diablo 4.

The area is located around the city of Kurast, which lies south of Kehjistan and Caldeum. So there is a certain connection to the Iron Wolves, the new faction from Season 4.

Diablo veterans will be happy here, because Kurast is already known from Diablo 2. One character from back then is still present in Diablo 4, even if he dies during the course of the story: Captain Meshif, who takes you to Kurast on his ship in Diablo 2.

How does the story continue? At the end of Diablo 4, Neyrelle disappears with the Soul Stone on a ship somewhere – obviously to Kurast. We don’t yet know what happens to her, but it will probably be the plot of the expansion.

A teaser image already shows that something is not quite right with Neyrelle.

There is a good chance that Neyrelle herself will become the “vessel of hate,” meaning she will fall under Mephisto’s control. The Lord of Hate is Lilith’s father and can already be seen in the story of Diablo 4. He plays a larger role in the expansion.

What can the new class do? The Spiritborn will be a completely new class that has never been seen in Diablo before. Supposedly, it will work with mental power, similar to monks from Diablo 3. Other sources claim it will be more like the witch doctor.

So far, there are only rumors about this. Officially, we know that the class is closely connected to Nahantu. A kind of nature mage with blood magic and poison would therefore be conceivable. Blizzard has already gained experience with new classes recently:

What else comes into play? All we know so far is that all classes will get an update with Vessel of Hatred. It is not yet known whether this will involve new Paragon boards, skills or even higher levels. Blizzard only revised the entire loot system with Season 4, so it is possible that fundamental changes will come before then.

We were already able to talk to the bosses themselves about the development of Vessel and Hatred at BlizzCon 2023. There they said that the community in particular has a big influence on what the future will bring: “The community is the most important asset” – Blizzard talks to us about the development and future of Diablo 4
