In an interview with The Express says Sjöstedt that his parents were creative, and that it must have rubbed off on the children. The father Steer is a photographer and the mother Ann is a graphic designer.

One of his sisters is the author Sophie Sarenbrant who has been open about his upbringing, which was marked by eating disorders and bullying. In a summer talk, she also talks about a sexual abuse in childhood. Big Brother is proud of her openness.

– People think we’ve always wanted a star, but we certainly don’t. Because if you want to go with a star, you must have a nice venue with nice tables, and there must be tasting menus. We only operate à la carte at a “dirty restaurant” where we paint and write everything ourselves, and then you can’t get a star, he tells Expressen.
– But we are too much rock’n’roll, at least for the Nordics. In London it would have been a different matter.
