Since 2022, Peter Kullgren is Sweden’s Minister of Rural Affairs and head of the Ministry of Rural Affairs and Infrastructure in Ulf Kristersson’s government.

Before KD, Peter Kullgren was municipal councilor for Karlstad municipality for seven years, from 2010 to 2017.
Peter Kullgren fishing – was he reported?
In October 2024, Peter Kullgren was reported to KU by the Social Democrats for saying yes to an EU proposal to double fishing quotas for herring in the central Baltic Sea.
– I am upset. We have an urgent situation for herring and sturgeon in the Baltic Sea, he said Anna-Caren Sätherbergrural policy spokesperson for the Social Democrats, told TT at the time and added:
– He should have voted no. The government has done that in other matters, even when you were chairman. This is actually unimaginable and a death knell for streamers and small-scale fishing.

Peter Kullgren is also married to the Christian Democrat Sarah Kullgren, born in 1991. Since 2020, she has been the chairman of the Christian Democratic Women’s Association and sits on the KD’s party board.
Sarah Kullgren was born in Norway and moved to Sweden in 2007. She previously studied political science and media and communication science at Uppsala University, according to SVT.
The couple married in 2022.
