Damage types explains: Everything about the elements
What are elements? In Monster Hunter there are 5 types of damage that hunters and monsters can hand out – the 5 elements:
While hunters can change the element at will depending on the equipped weapon model (not weapon class), Monster are bound to their from birth.
As a hunter, you should therefore pay attention to elements in the fight, because each monster has at least one weakness against one of the elements mentioned. If you use this weakness, your attacks will become more effective.
Depending on the hunted monster, you should also put on armor that increase your resistance of the opposing element. This makes you more robust and thus increases the chances of survival in combat.
Status system: effects against hunters and monsters
What are status effects? In Monster Hunter, in addition to the elements, there are also status effects that your hunter or the hunted monster can plague. Depending on the use, you can therefore be very practical in combat and bring you advantages or even hinder you on hunting. As already mentioned, we have to differentiate between the hunter and monster effects:

Can elements harm me too? Yes, you can do that in the form of negative element effects. Depending on the element, you will receive a status effect that can harm or hinder you in a special form. The following are known:
So it is important to either avoid the attacks of the monsters well or to have items with you to heal the respective plague or illness. Only hunters can be affected by such effects.
Note the following: Often an attack by the monster is sufficient to trigger the respective status effect. So be very careful in the fight and try to avoid attacks or to block them.
Status effects against Monster in the overview
What are the status effects against Monster? Even Monsters are not spared the status effects. Depending on the guided weapon model, you can put effects on your enemies, which can make the fight easier for you. You should know this:
The effects are very practical and can also change the course of a fight, unfortunately they are not immediately activated as with the monsters after just one attack.
To debuff the monsters, you have to pierce them several times until the non-visible status bar has filled up. It does not depend on the force of the blows, but their frequency. Fast weapons like the double blades are therefore excellent weapons for status builds. Weapons like the hammer are less suitable for this.
Fight against Monster: What does it depend?
The main thing in the fight is to analyze the attacks of your opponent and know what you are dealing with. The following things play a role in this:
Depending on the monster, your priority is then to slow it down or even wound it so far so that it cannot flee. The second advantage is that you will be easier to land your hits if the monster does not dance wildly through nature.
In combat it is important to have the right equipment with you, i.e. weapons that hand out the element against which your hunted monster is weak. In addition, you should put on armor that offers you good protection against the opposing element. You will receive such information in the Monster Lexicon.
You can also become inventive in deliberate situations. You are not fighting alone, other monsters can intervene in the fight and hurt your hunted monster. Bushes and treetops can also increase your control over the battlefield and contribute to slowing down your opponent.
But that’s not all. The goal of every hunter is to make or catch the monster in this way, so you get the materials that you need for future items. It is important to know what “separating” and “breaking” means.
Submit and break: What is it and why do I have to do it?
There are two types that you can massively injure your opponent, and that amounts to the following things:
You can break parts of the body by hammering on tanks and other parts of the body with blunt violence. Breaking the monsters are seriously and permanently injured – this means that they can do some of their attacks weaker or not at all, which benefits you in combat.
However, some monsters also have cocks or wings that you can separate. Use weapons with blades. The cuts then separate attacked body parts. In the best case, you limit the movement of your monster.
Last but not least, the greatest advantage of separation or break mechanics is that you can increase the number of captured materials. So it is an advantage if you attack sensitive body regions of your monsters in the fight to make it quickly, efficiently and with the highest profit.
In addition, you can also use the new focus attacks, which have been added to Monster Hunter Wilds – they share so much damage to wounds that they are destroyed. You can find more about Monster Hunter Wilds here: 7 things that you shouldn’t forget in Monster Hunter Wilds
