The anticipation for Monster Hunter Wilds is great, and as in the previous titles in the series, many players want to hunt big monsters together in a group. MeinMMO explains what you need to know about crossplay, cross-save and cross-progression.

Does Monster Hunter Wilds have crossplay? There was no crossplay in the previous installments, but that changes with Monster Hunter Wilds. It was confirmed at Summer Games Fest 2024 that Monster Hunter Wilds will feature crossplay across all platforms.

The game will be released on Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and the following information is provided by Capcom about crossplay:

  • Players can play together with other players on all available platforms
  • Crossplay can be turned on or off
  • Players can also add players from other platforms as friends

    Monster Hunter Wilds: Cross-save, cross-progression and platforming

    Is there cross-save in Monster Hunter Wilds? Anyone who wants to go monster hunting on multiple platforms will be disappointed. Capcom also commented on cross-save. They write that save data (progress or purchased DLCs, for example) is organized individually by each platform.

    Accordingly, it is not possible to offer cross-save or cross-progression on multiple platforms. If you want to play on multiple consoles, you have to create a new character each time. If DLCs were to appear later, you would have to buy DLCs twice if you wanted them on every platform.

    Is Monster Hunter Wilds coming to PS4 or Switch? No, the game will only appear as a next-gen title on PC via Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

    How exactly crossplay works and how you can invite friends is not yet known.
