When does the Blade Runner 2099 sci-fi series start at Amazon Prime?
Amazon Prime has not yet announced an exact start date for the Blade Runner 2099 sci-fi sequel. Since the filming for the 6-part mini seriesthat took place from June to December 2024, we expect a publication in the second half of the year 2025. So for the time being it remains with a vague “Coming Soon”.
Ridley Scott announced the Blade Runner series, according to Thr, in November 2021, at that time with 10 instead of 6 episodes. Her title was unveiled in autumn 2022.
Sci-fi sequel: What is Blade Runner 2099 about?
As the title suggests, the new sci-fi series will play in 2099, so 50 years after the last movie (Blade Runner 2049) and 80 years after the original film located in 2019.

Behind the camera has Show runner Silka Luisa (Shining Girls) The threads in the hand and writes the screenplays together with Tom Specialy (The Leftovers). From the original plan that Ridley Scott should direct the series pilot, nothing became, but he remained on board as an executive producer, together with Blade Runner 2049 script author Michael Green. Director Jonathan van Tulleken (Shogun) staged the first two episodes of Blade Runner 2099.
Rob Hardy (Ex Machina) took over the camera work, while Helen Huang (Eleven station) designed the costumes. For the scene, Paul Inglis (Blade Runner 2049) was brought back.
